The Old Testament foretells Jesus’ speaking in parables

In the Book of Psalms, we read: “My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old- things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us.” Psalm 78:103.

This Psalm is ‘a maskil of Asaph,’ who was a skilled musician during the time of King David. So, it was written more than 1,000 years before Jesus was born.

Jesus did speak in parables, such as the parables of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast (Matthew 13), the parable of the Tenants (Mark 12), and the parable of the Wedding Feast (Luke 14). Jesus told more than 20 parables and about 1/3rd of his teachings were in parables. Some parables, such as ‘The Good Samaritan,’ are so famous that even non-believers know about them.

JESUS FULFILLED THIS ANCIENT PROPHECY. Jesus is the only person in the New Testament who is recorded as speaking in parables. The apostles repeated Jesus’ parables but didn’t create their own.
