Jesus, Mighty God and Prince of Peace

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.” Isaiah 9:6-7. 

Isaiah prophesied more than 600 years before Jesus was born. Who is called Mighty God? Jesus told us many times that He is the Son of God. For example, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:28-30.

What about the Prince of Peace? Jesus said,  “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27. The Apostle Paul wrote, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.  For he himself is our peace…” Ephesians 2:13-14.

Jesus is both Mighty God and the Prince of Peace. Prophecy fulfilled!
