JESUS FULFILLING ANCIENT PROPHECY AS THE LAMB OF GOD

“He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” Isaiah 53:7.

This is another quote from the prophet Isaiah in the Old Testament, and it was written more than 600 years before Jesus was born.  Lambs were sacrificial animals used in the Old Testament, such as the Passover Lamb (Exodus 12:21).

In the New Testament, we read that John the Baptist refers to Jesus as the Lamb of God: “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'” John 1:29.

When questioned by the Sadducees and Pharisees, Jesus remained silent: “Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, ‘Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?’ But Jesus remained silent.” Matthew 26:62-63.

Yes, Jesus did not open his mouth and He was silent when He led to his own slaughter.
