Today, people may say to you, ‘Jesus never said that he is God!’ Is this true? We can start with the first verse in the Bible and see where it leads us. “In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1.
Genesis was written over 3,000 years ago. It was written in Hebrew, and the word ‘Elohim’ was used for the English word ‘God.’ ‘Elohim’ is plural, so it means ‘we.’ Who is ‘we’? In John 10:30, Jesus said, “I and the father are one.” So, Jesus and God are one. Jesus also said, “Very truly I tell you, before Abraham was born, I am.” John 8:58. Abraham was born at least 1,700 years before Jesus. Jesus said that he was alive 1,700 years before he was born!
The “I AM” in John 8:58 is telling. Moses asked God what his name was. God replied, “I AM who I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.'” Exodus 3:14. In John 8:58, Jesus said that he is “I AM” and thus is God. Jesus repeatedly said, “I AM.” For example: “and He says to them, “I AM; do not be afraid;”” John 6:20. LSV. “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.” John 8:24. NASB
Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God are One.
