“Archeologists announced that they had discovered evidence of the biblical story of the death of Josiah, the last great king of Judah, at the hands of the Egyptian Pharaoh Necho II. Historians say the story took place in 609 BCE at Megiddo in Northern Israel, known in Greek as Armageddon.”
Josiah became king when he was eight years old. He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD. Josiah raised money for the restoration of the Temple and the scriptures were found by a priest during that time. This was a great discovery! “The king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people joined in the covenant” (2 Kings 23:3).
Josiah died at the hands of the Egyptian Pharaoh Necho in Megiddo. The article says cache of Egyptian pottery has been found at Megiddo, and its dating matches when Necho conquered the city. The researchers believe that Necho’s Army brought the pottery to Megiddo. This fits with the biblical account in 2 Kings 22-23. It is archeological evidence that the Bible has historically correct accounts in it.
